Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog X DOB: 7/2024 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: medium Color(s): brown brindle / white Description:***Needs a Foster Home***This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online application.Hi, I'm Buttercup, a sweet and energetic Catahoula X with a not-so-sweet past. I was found tied to a locked U-Haul, and despite being rescued and taken to the shelter, my owner never replied. But that's all behind me now, and I'm ready to leave my old life in the dust and find my forever family.I love squeaky toys and cuddling. I am a playful soul who loves to explore and have fun. I walk well on a leash which is great because I'm curious about the world and always up for an adventure, especially if it involves my favorite people. I am good with other dogs outside of the home, but sometimes I can be dog reactive when on a leash . I prefer to be the Queen of my castle and don't always care to share my food, getting attention or my space. I'm not a fan of being left alone and would prefer my human to be around more than not. I enjoy going to the beach and just lounging too. I am affectionate and loyal, and good with children, but would do best in a home with children at least 6 years old. I know some basic commands 'come' and 'sit'. I know I can learn more with patience and positive training.I just want a second chance at a happy life and to give all my love and waggy-tailed enthusiasm to a new family. Could you be the one to show me that there is sunshine after the rain? I promise to brighten up your world with my playful spirit and loving nature. Fill out an online application to come and meet me, and let me show you that second chances can lead to the happiest of endings.*Thank you to Sharon for sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving her the chance for a better life.

Plan a visit with the source organization
1. Before making your selection, please consider the following. https://www.pawsandlearn.org/contact After reading, select a dog that interests you and fits your lifestyle. For puppies under 11 months old, children in the home must be at least 6 years old. 2. Everyone in the household needs to spend some time interacting with the dog. If you already have a dog in your household, please bring your dog over to meet the dog you’ve selected. All dogs and people in the home must meet the dog you’ve selected. 3. Fill out an adoption application form (note: filling out an application DOES NOT guarantee an adoption). 4. An Adoption Counselor will review the application. Upon approval of the application, you will be contacted to submit pictures/videos to confirm that the fencing and gates are secure, and the yard is safe for the dog. 5. No dog is ever adopted from the program without a home check. 6. If more than one application is submitted for a given dog, our adoption committee will select the home that is best suited for the dog’s needs. 7. The entire adoption process can take up to one week. 8. The adoption process is concluded when an Adoption Contract is completed and the non-refundable adoption fee is paid. 9. Our non-refundable adoption fees per dog are: $300 for puppies up to 6 months old $250 for puppies over 6 months old and under 1 yr old $225 for dogs 1 yr old and under 8 yrs old $175 for senior dogs 8 yrs old and up If you can increase the adoption fee for the dog you are adopting, please do so. Any amount over the adoption fee is tax-deductible. If you cannot, please remember us during the holiday gift giving season and for donations of dog toys, dog beds, blankets and other items all rescue groups need. But most importantly PLEASE remember to tell your friends who FALL IN LOVE with your dog (because they will) to ADOPT, don't breed or buy.
