In the shelter’s words
7/5/2026Linus is an owner surrender looking for a new home.Hi! We are Linus and Lucy IX! We are beautiful 7 year old fawn littermates who are owner surrenders due to our owner being unable to afford to care for us. We are littermates and have never been apart, therefore we need to be adopted together which means double the Boxer love and fun for you! We are described as friendly, active, smart, noisy, playful, affectionate, and nervous! We have not had exposure to many other dogs but live with a rescue pug and after a few weeks of getting used to him, we are very close with him. We occasionally see stray cats on the property we live at but due to us being in a fenced area, we do not have interaction with them and will bark at them. We have had limited exposure to children but our owner's niece occasionally visits and after giving us time to calm down, we are allowed to interact with her and we are great and will even lay next to her to watch a movie or stay by her side. We are always happy to see new people and it takes a few minutes for us to contain our excitement! We are house trained but will need crate training if that is required in our forever home. At night we sleep on the couch, love seat, or recliner and if the humans must be away, we are good being left alone. When outside we have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. Some of our fears include thunder and fireworks but we love riding in the car, chew toys, playing tug of war with rope toys, daily walks in the morning and evening, snuggling, sitting next to the humans, and getting pets from the humans! If you think we would make a great addition to your home, contact the rescue today and give them our names because we are waiting to meet you!

Plan a visit with the source organization
The Process to adopt a dog through Austin Boxer Rescue is as follows: Fill out an Online Adoption Application below. Your application will be reviewed and sent to a volunteer in your area. The volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit within one week. Normally, a volunteer would come to your house for a home visit, but until further notice, visits are being done virtually. After your home visit is complete and you are approved you can begin meeting dogs. The Adoption Coordinator will assist you in this process. Please note: The application process begins immediately once an application is submitted and approvals tend to occur quickly. Please do not submit an application unless you are ready to take home a dog. ABR does not have the space or capability to hold dogs, therefore, dogs are adopted out on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are not able to proceed with a home visit when contacted by an ABR volunteer then your application will be filed away. We will ask you to resubmit your application if you wish to adopt later date. Every dog adopted will have the following: Current on vaccinations and dewormed Spayed or neutered Will be micro chipped Will be treated for heartworms and/or on heartworm prevention Any additional medical problems will be treated and paid for by the rescue.
