In the shelter’s words
Presley came to Revelation Gardens after we were called to help cats living in a home where conditions had deteriorated severely. When we arrived, it was clear that every cat in the home needed help—including Presley. The experience had taken a toll. Presley arrived frightened and unsettled, and adjusting to another enormous change wasn’t easy. What he needed most was time, consistency and the chance to feel safe again. Today, Presley is an entirely different cat. He’s incredibly sweet, smart and wonderfully communicative—Presley has plenty to say and isn’t shy about having a conversation. He loves to cuddle and has become deeply attached to his people. He’s also discovered some rather specific forms of entertainment, including stealing hair elastics and investigating just about any drawstring attached to your clothing. Presley currently lives at our second sanctuary location, where he has found the stability and security he needed after everything he experienced. New environments can still be difficult for him. An attempt to introduce him to potential adopters in a busy adoption setting was simply too much, and we’ve learned from that experience. If Presley finds another home, it needs to happen thoughtfully, with someone willing to give him time to adjust rather than expecting him to immediately show the affectionate, funny boy we know. There is no deadline for Presley. He has a home with Revelation Gardens for as long as he needs one. But we also won’t assume that the place where he recovered must be the only place he’ll ever belong. For the right person, willing to earn his trust and give him time, there is an extraordinarily loving cat waiting on the other side.

Once you’ve found a rescue you’d like to welcome into your family, the first step is completing our adoption application. Our adoption process is designed to help create lasting matches. We’ll talk with you about the animal you’ve chosen and make sure their personality, needs, and energy level are a good fit for your home and lifestyle. We’ll also verify references and, in some circumstances—particularly with dog adoptions—may conduct a home visit. We aren’t looking for a perfect home. We’re looking for the right fit for both you and the animal. Our adoption fee is $125 and includes spay/neuter, current rabies vaccination, and flea/tick prevention (the fee for bonded pairs is $150 for both). Once your application is approved, we’ll schedule a time to complete the adoption paperwork and welcome your new family member home.
