In the shelter’s words
LOYALTY. If there is one word that defines a German Shepherd, it’s loyalty. Meet Jebediah — Jeb for short. Jeb is a 5-year-old, 92-pound German Shepherd looking for his person. Jeb is fiercely loyal and happiest when he’s right by your side. He’s a quiet, well-mannered dog in the home who is perfectly content settling in beside his person. But get him outside and the goofy side comes out. Jeb absolutely romps around with his dog friends like a total goober, breaks into spectacular zoomies, loves pool time, and chases bugs like it’s his full-time job. He is dog-friendly with slow, proper introductions. He would also likely be kid-friendly due to his temperament but would probably be best with bigger kids. He can be nervous when meeting new people or dogs, but once he has time to realize you’re a friend, he warms up beautifully and becomes your buddy for life. Jeb is crate-trained, fully potty-trained, and knows basic obedience. He does not require a fenced yard, but he will need to learn reliable recall before being trusted off-leash.Jeb does have a prey drive, so he needs a home without cats or other small animals. At the end of the day, Jeb really just wants one thing: his person. Someone he can follow around, sit beside, play with, and love with that unmistakable German Shepherd devotion. If you’re looking for a big, loyal, goofy Shepherd who wants nothing more than to be your shadow, Jeb may be your guy. If you’re interested in adding Jeb to your family, contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org. Jeb is being fostered in Charlotte, NC.

Plan a visit with the source organization
All applicants must pass a vet check, phone interview and home visit in order to adopt. Once an applicant passes, they must sign an adoption contract where they agree to alter the dog by 6 months of age - if they are adopting a puppy, guarantee that the dog will receive proper vet care, food, water and exercise, and will return the dog to the rescue if they can no longer keep the dog for any reason. All dogs are microchipped prior to adoption, with Freedom GSR always remaining on the chip. The adoption fee is $250, adopters receive a 2 week trial period with the dog and if the adopter is found to be in violation of the contract, Freedom GSR will reclaim the dog. All dogs will not be adopted out until they are up to date on shots, free of heartworms and intestinal parasites and altered, if six months of age or older. If a puppy is adopted, the adoption contract stipulates that the puppy must be altered by the time s/he turns 6 months old.
