In the shelter’s words
Well, hello there! The name's Dickory, and I'm here to find myself a forever home! I arrived at the SPCA with two other roosters named Hickory and Dock, but don't let that fool you - I'm an independent guy and am not bonded to either of them. I'm ready to spread my wings and start the next chapter of my life! I believe a rooster should carry himself with confidence, keep an eye on his surroundings, and never miss an opportunity to show off those handsome feathers! I've got that classic rooster charm, and I'm ready to bring a little extra personality to someone's flock. After all, every chicken yard deserves a fellow like me! I am looking for a home with a safe, secure setup with plenty of room to roam, scratch, forage, and do all the important rooster business that keeps a fellow like me busy. An adopter who understands rooster life and can give me the right environment will be just what I need to settle in and shine. Are you that person? Don't keep me waiting! The SPCA strongly encourages Adoption Holds to ensure I will be waiting to meet you when you arrive. The barn is closed for lunch from 12pm - 1pm.

Plan a visit with the source organization
1. Visit the SPCA at 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway across from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. 2. Visit with the pet you are interested in adopting to see if his personality fits your lifestyle. If you are adopting a dog, you can meet him in one of our new dog condo rooms or play in one of our play yards. 3. Complete family introductions (every member of the family living in the house with the animal must meet and visit with the animal prior to adoption to ensure a happy fit for everyone). 4. If you are adopting a new dog and already have one at home, our animal care staff will assist you with introducing your current dog to the dog you are hoping to adopt to ensure a good match. 5. The SPCA adoption process takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. All paperwork, vaccination records, and microchip information will be provided at this time. Adoption fees range from $20 to $290. 6. Take your new lifelong family member home!
