In the shelter’s words
Meet Peanutbrittle! Peanutbrittle is a soft, fluffy beauty with the gentlest soul to match. When she first arrived in her foster home, she preferred observing the world from the safety of her cozy cat tree hideaway. New places can feel a little overwhelming for this sensitive girl, but with time and patience, her confidence continues to grow. Once she feels safe, Peanutbrittle truly blossoms. She leans into head pets, adores back scratches, and quietly soaks up your affection. She isn’t quite comfortable being picked up yet, but she’s making progress at her own pace. Even when unsure, she remains calm and gentle—never biting or scratching—just a quiet girl learning to trust. Peanutbrittle would thrive in a patient, understanding home that gives her the time she needs to settle in and shine. A confident feline friend could be a wonderful role model, as she has peacefully coexisted with other cats. She has lived around large dogs before, but since being chased wasn’t her favorite pastime, she would do best with a calm, cat-savvy dog and slow, proper introductions—or in a dog-free home. This sweet girl may take a little time to come around, but for someone willing to let her unfold at her own pace, Peanutbrittle will be a quietly devoted companion. Peanutbrittle is looking for a forever home that offers patience, understanding, and the time she needs to fully settle in. In return, you’ll get to watch a shy little girl grow in confidence and become a gentle, steady presence in your home. Peanutbrittle is from an owner surrender with her sister. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals. Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.
