In the shelter’s words
7/11/2026Zoey XII is an owner surrender looking for a new home.Hi! My name is Zoey XII! I am a beautiful 8 year old flashy fawn girl that is an owner surrender due to my owners having life changes and busy schedules. I am described as friendly, smart, calm, affectionate, quiet, and obedient! I am partially blind in one eye and have stiff back legs when I lie down in one place too long but I do not let that slow me down! I have lived with three dogs, four cats and kittens, chickens, baby chicks, and goats and am animal friendly! I seem to love dogs and cats seem to gravitate towards me. There are three kids in my home (ages 6 months-13 years) and I am good with them and other children that visit the home! I am house trained, crate trained, know basic commands, and at night I sleep in the entryway room with a jumbo memory foam bed. When the humans are away, I am not crated and am not destructive and will stay in an area if it is blocked off. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. I am afraid of loud noises, thunder, and fireworks. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, staying in the a/c when it's hot outside, belly rubs, hugs, treats, light walks, sleep, and getting love! My current owner says I am a calm and amazing dog that smiles when I'm happy. If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!

Plan a visit with the source organization
The Process to adopt a dog through Austin Boxer Rescue is as follows: Fill out an Online Adoption Application below. Your application will be reviewed and sent to a volunteer in your area. The volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit within one week. Normally, a volunteer would come to your house for a home visit, but until further notice, visits are being done virtually. After your home visit is complete and you are approved you can begin meeting dogs. The Adoption Coordinator will assist you in this process. Please note: The application process begins immediately once an application is submitted and approvals tend to occur quickly. Please do not submit an application unless you are ready to take home a dog. ABR does not have the space or capability to hold dogs, therefore, dogs are adopted out on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are not able to proceed with a home visit when contacted by an ABR volunteer then your application will be filed away. We will ask you to resubmit your application if you wish to adopt later date. Every dog adopted will have the following: Current on vaccinations and dewormed Spayed or neutered Will be micro chipped Will be treated for heartworms and/or on heartworm prevention Any additional medical problems will be treated and paid for by the rescue.
