In the shelter’s words
Meet Kai! Kai is a 6-month-old (DOB: 4/4/26), currently approximately 30-pound mixed-breed pup with the sweetest old soul and a serious love for belly rubs! A DNA test was completed on some of his adopted siblings, and the results confirmed what we already suspected—Kai is a little bit of everything, making him one very special mutt! Kai’s number one love language is physical touch. Give him a little attention and there’s a good chance he’ll immediately roll onto his back and request belly rubs. He loves being close to his people and soaking up affection. Kai absolutely enjoys playing and having fun but he also knows when he has had enough. When he’s tired or feeling overwhelmed, he’ll let you know that he needs some space. We lovingly describe him as a bit of a grumpy old man trapped in a puppy’s body ! Because of this, we believe Kai would do best in a home with older children who can understand and respect his boundaries when he’s ready for some quiet time. But don't be fooled by this ol soul, he loves meeting new people and other dogs. Kai is fully crate trained and potty trained and is already neutered. He’s not the biggest fan of having to tackle a lot of stairs, but he will do them when needed. Kai is dog friendly and is being fostered with a shitzu. He loves to play with him. At around 30 pounds now, we don’t expect Kai to get much bigger and anticipate that he will remain on the smaller side, likely under 40 pounds. Of course, with any mixed-breed puppy, we can never guarantee his final adult size. Kai is looking for a family who will appreciate his affectionate personality, respect his occasional need for space, and—most importantly—never run out of belly rubs. ❤️ If Kai sounds like the perfect addition to your family, visit our website to submit an adoption application www.keytolionsheart.org
