In the shelter’s words

DOB: 10/10/2023 Chris is a handsome gray tabby with soulful eyes that tell the story of a life well lived… and hard won. He’s seen more than most, having spent much of his life trying to survive outside in a world that wasn’t always kind to him. Yet through it all, Chris has held onto the sweetest heart. This gentle boy is affectionate, calm, and so appreciative of every soft bed, warm meal, and kind touch. He doesn’t ask for much — just a cozy spot to rest, a family who will love him, and the safety he’s never truly known before. Chris is ready to trade cold nights and uncertainty for sunny windowsills and quiet companionship. He deserves a home where he can finally relax, feel secure, and be cherished for the wonderful cat he is. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will reward your kindness with endless gratitude, Chris is waiting to meet you. Come meet me at the cage-free Adoption Center! All cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and tested for FIV/FeLV. **If interested in adopting me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process. Due to the large number of inquiries received, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.** Feline Immunodeficiency Virus positive cats can live normal lives both in quality and duration. They do take special care in terms of monitoring them for signs of infection. FIV can be passed from cat to cat via deep bite wounds, but not from casual contact so positive cats can live with negative cats without the fear of spreading FIV as long as they get along and are spayed/neutered. For more information about FIV – feline immunodeficiency virus visit this website: https://bestfriends.org/resources/fiv-cats-faqs-feline-immunodeficiency-virus

We have an application that requires the potential adopter to wait until their application can be verified. Once everything checks out the adopter comes and picks up their new fur member of the family and signs a contract. One of the highlights of our contract states that if for ANY reason at ANY time they cannot care for the animal, they must return the cat or dog back to Colony Cats (& dogs). Our adoption fees are $125 for kittens 6 months and younger; $75 for kittens over 6 months and adults up to 7 years; $50 for 7 years and older. If adopting 2 kittens/cats at the same time there is a $25 discount. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, Feline Leukemia and FIV tested (cats), heartworm tested (dogs), microchip, flea prevention, vaccinations (FVRCP for cats and DHLPP for dogs), rabies vaccine (if kittens or puppies are old enough to receive a rabies vaccine). If not, the new owner will need to go to their vet to get this done.
