In the shelter’s words
DAISY came to MOGS from a large-scale puppy mill/hoarder situation several weeks pregnant, significantly underweight, full of parasites, double ear infections, and HW+TEMPERAMENT / BEHAVIORAgainst all odds, Daisy is a sweet-tempered, loving and affection seeking girl. She loves to hang out with her people, snuggle up next to them on the couch, and relax. When relaxation time is over, Daisy is a moderate-energy girl, and requires daily exercise. She loves to walk, and is working on her leash skills (we're not sure she'd ever been on a leash before coming to us). She is also super smart, wants to please, and is very food motivated. She can sometimes have a hard mouth if she is excited, so is working on the concept of 'gentle' when taking treats. Daisy is working on learning sit, down, wait and free. She is crate-trained and house-trained, but isn't yet safe to roam a home unsupervised due to unintentionally destructive behavior when loose inside - she tends to runover, into and through everything still. PEOPLE and KIDSDaisy loves people of all ages and sizes. Because she is so under-socialized at this point, and doesn't seem to understand her size and strength, she would do best in a home with kids 10+OTHER ANIMALSDaisy is in a foster home with other dogs her size and energy level, and appears to be able to get along with all of their different personalities. She can be a rough player, and would likely enjoy another dog of her size and energy level, and slow initial introductions. Daisy has a very intense small prey drive and is 100% NOT SAFE with cats or other small animals. She likely needs a fenced-in yard with, at minimum, a 6-ft privacy fence, due to how intensely she focuses on small prey animals when outside. MEDICAL Daisy is up-to-date on vaccines, has a current rabies tag, is microchipped and has been spayed. Daisy did test as Heartworm + on intake, but has been successfully treated and is heartworm freeDaisy has no other known health issues. If you're looking for a gorgeous, young, trainable German Shepherd who will love you forever,Daisy may be your ideal family member! DAISY'S ADOPTION FEE: $350 This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.INTERESTED IN ADOPTING DAISY?Complete an Adoption Application Now!
