In the shelter’s words

12/4/2025Nova II is an owner surrender looking for a new home.Hi! My name is Nova II! I am a handsome 10 year old white boxer boy that is an owner surrender due to my owner's health issues and other dogs in the home not getting along with me. I am described as friendly, shy, playful, affectionate, and nervous! I do have some arthritis and a mass on my kidney, but don't let that shy you away! I am a proud member of the rescue's Silver Heart program so be sure and ask about it because there are many perks for my adoptive family! I currently live with an English bulldog but it is no longer getting along with me. I have never lived with a cat so it is uncertain if I am feline friendly. There are no children in my home but I have had extended exposure to my owner's 5 year old nephew and do great with him! I am house trained but will need assistance learning crate training manners in my forever home if it is required. At night I sleep on a dog bed on the floor and when the humans are away and I am left alone, I have separation anxiety because I want to be with them. When outside I do not attempt to jump fences/gates but I am curious what is under the grass and will dig to find out. Some of my favorite things are my bed, playing, being outside, affection, and treats! If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and tell them you are wanting to meet sweet Silver Heart Nova II because I am waiting to meet you!

Plan a visit with the source organization

The Process to adopt a dog through Austin Boxer Rescue is as follows: Fill out an Online Adoption Application below. Your application will be reviewed and sent to a volunteer in your area. The volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit within one week. Normally, a volunteer would come to your house for a home visit, but until further notice, visits are being done virtually. After your home visit is complete and you are approved you can begin meeting dogs. The Adoption Coordinator will assist you in this process. Please note: The application process begins immediately once an application is submitted and approvals tend to occur quickly. Please do not submit an application unless you are ready to take home a dog. ABR does not have the space or capability to hold dogs, therefore, dogs are adopted out on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are not able to proceed with a home visit when contacted by an ABR volunteer then your application will be filed away.
