Meet Chaparrita! DOB: August 2024Weight: 14lbsDisposition: Affectionate, Alert, HappyHistory: Chaparrita was rescued from the street while she was in labor. She had 11 puppies and has been a wonderful mother, but is now looking for her forever home.Amazing Qualities: Chaparrita means "petite," and this sweet girl has a big personality despite her name. She loves attention and affection, and clearly knows how good a scalp massage feels. After raising 11 puppies, she's more than ready for someone to spoil her.Best Home: Chaparrita would be a wonderful match for a family looking for a loving companion. She gets along well with children and loves affection. She is a bit nervous around other dogs, so a home where she can have some space from other dogs would be the best fit.Interested in adopting? If you're interested in meeting Chaparrita, please visit our website to fill out an adoption application: www.thebarkinglot.net/adopt. Our dogs are located in San Diego County, CA. We will happily consider out of town applications and can conduct virtual play dates with interested adopters. We have monthly transport to various locations in the Pacific Northwest, individual arrangements would need to be made for other locations across the US and Canada.About Angeles en CaminoThis dog is part of Angeles en Camino ("Angels on the Way"), a cross-border rescue mission bringing adoptable dogs from Manzanillo, Mexico, to loving homes in Southern California. Sponsored by the Mayor's Office of Manzanillo and made possible through a partnership between Animal Angels ZLO and The Barking Lot, this initiative gives vulnerable dogs a second chance at life while connecting two communities through rescue. To initiate the adoption process for this dog, please complete our online application by clicking below. Your adoption coordinator will respod to you via email once they receive your application: www.thebarkinglot.net/adopt

Our goal is to find the right match for each pooch based on lifestyle, energy level, exercise regime, environment and living situation. To ensure we find a great match for each pup, the process includes: 1) Filling out an Adoption Application. 2) a play date with your furry friend, 3) a home check of the potential adopter, 4) an adoption contract, 5) an adoption fee. The adoption fees include spay/neuter, up-to-date shots, rabies vaccination, microchip & microchip registration, de-worming and the benefit of getting a pooch who has been living in a stable and loving environment. Dogs are fostered in our homes to create the same type of environment into which each will be adopted. We strive to meet each pup's needs in terms of exercise, socialization and basic manners, including potty training.
