In the shelter’s words

Reggie – Loyal Soul Seeking a Calm, Loving Home Reggie is a gentle, loving dog just waiting for the right person to notice him. He enjoys having his meals and toys in his own space and prefers slow, gentle handling that lets trust grow naturally. With patience, Reggie becomes a devoted, loyal friend who will stand by your side for life. Once he chooses you, Reggie is both a calm snuggler and a fun playmate. He loves quiet affection, relaxed moments on the couch, romps in the yard, and peaceful walks. A quick learner with wonderful house manners, he is crate-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and thrives on praise and connection. Reggie gets along well with most dogs and would enjoy a compatible doggy playmate. He would do best in a calm home with dog-savvy, patient adopters who understand slow introductions and trust building. He is likely fine with older kids but may be too clumsy for small children. Back Story Reggie was found roaming in the desert by an animal control officer and taken to a veterinarian for care and adoption—but instead, he spent over a year neglected in a 4×6 outdoor pen. When transferred to Pets Return Home, he arrived 30 pounds underweight with sores on his legs and paws, caked eyes and ears, several dog bites, and no vaccinations or neuter. He was hand-shy and extremely anxious, barking constantly and reacting fearfully to dogs. Over the next year, Reggie received medical care, training, and patient rehabilitation. His transformation has been remarkable—he now greets new people warmly, listens attentively, enjoys snuggles, loves walks, and engages confidently with dogs. He remains one of our most stable and wonderful boys. Reggie has a bit of an adventurous streak and has gone on a few “walkabouts,” always returning on his own. With a secure yard and attentive adopters, he will thrive. Dog Adoption Process Overview We do not guarantee the health of any of our animals for adoption. Any time you adopt an animal, you should take it to a licensed veterinarian as soon as possible. Your animal is, to the best of our knowledge, healthy. It is our goal to place newly adopted pets as quickly as possible – we feel this is best for both the pet and the adoptive family (not to mention it frees up a space for us to save another dog or pup!) Your patience and cooperation are appreciated. Our Adoption Process Select your dog or puppy. Our available dogs can be viewed online on our website at www.petsreturnhome.org. To meet a particular dog or pup, you can either email info@petsreturnhome.org to be put in touch with the foster parents. Submit an Application. Our Adoption Application can be found on our website www.petsreturnhome.org or at one of our adoption events. Applications can be submitted at an event or submitted via email attachment to info@petsreturnhome.org. Applications are not processed until you have met, chosen and committed to adopting a particular dog or pup and are processed on a first come basis. For assistance at the adoption events please see the person at our information table. NOTE: Processing normally takes no more than one week from the time your application has been received and you have selected an animal, to the point at which you will sign the contract and receive your pup or dog. When submitting your application, please make sure you can be available to sign the adoption contracts and to accept your new pet. If you are a previous adopter we still require you to fill out another application. Interview. As a first step in processing your application you will be interviewed by one of our adoption counselors. This is the time for you to ask any questions that you may have about the organization, our processes or our dogs. The interview will either take place at an adoption event or we can conduct your interview over the phone. A
