In the shelter’s words
DOB: 2/13/2025 Meet Tora, a quiet little observer who is learning what it feels like to be safe. Before coming to us, Tora was found living in a trailer park, surviving on whatever scraps she could find. After having to look out for herself, it’s understandable that trusting people doesn’t come naturally to her just yet. Tora is reserved but incredibly inquisitive. She loves to watch everything happening around her from a comfortable distance with those big, curious eyes. You can tell she wants to trust—she just needs a little time to decide that you’re one of the good ones. Luckily, the way to Tora’s heart isn’t too difficult to figure out: treats and patience! Once she feels comfortable with you, her walls begin to come down. She’ll lean into pets and even follow you around the room hoping to get a few more. Tora isn’t looking for someone to rush her. She’s looking for a patient person who will let her build trust at her own pace and show her that she no longer has to fend for herself. Give this sweet girl the chance to feel safe, and you’ll get to watch her become the affectionate companion she’s been wanting to be all along. **Come meet me at the cage free Adoption Center!! All cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and tested for FIV/FeLV. **If interested in adopting me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process. Due to the large number of inquiries received, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.**

We have an application that requires the potential adopter to wait until their application can be verified. Once everything checks out the adopter comes and picks up their new fur member of the family and signs a contract. One of the highlights of our contract states that if for ANY reason at ANY time they cannot care for the animal, they must return the cat or dog back to Colony Cats (& dogs). Our adoption fees are $125 for kittens 6 months and younger; $75 for kittens over 6 months and adults up to 7 years; $50 for 7 years and older. If adopting 2 kittens/cats at the same time there is a $25 discount. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, Feline Leukemia and FIV tested (cats), heartworm tested (dogs), microchip, flea prevention, vaccinations (FVRCP for cats and DHLPP for dogs), rabies vaccine (if kittens or puppies are old enough to receive a rabies vaccine). If not, the new owner will need to go to their vet to get this done.
