Meet Callisto! Callisto was found in an area of Texas known for abandoned dogs. Thankfully, she's now safe with a foster family and getting the chance she deserves!This girl is a total sweetheart with just the right amount of classic Malinois sass and mischief to keep life entertaining. She's playful, has a medium drive, and best of all, comes with a pretty great off switch! Callisto doesn't need someone constantly entertaining her. Give her a few toys, and she'll happily toss them around, rotate through her favorites, and find ways to keep herself occupied. She's got a brain of her own and isn't afraid to use it!And if you're someone who enjoys getting outside, Callisto might make a great jogging partner! Her foster says she trots along at a happy little pace like she has her own soundtrack playing in her head. No blasting ahead, jumping all over you, or trying to herd you into the next county. She just needs a little help staying in her lane, and she's happy to keep moving right alongside you!Callisto can be a little shy when meeting new people and needs time to warm up and feel comfortable. Loud noises and quick movements can make her nervous, so she'll do best with people who are willing to let her settle in at her own pace and build a relationship with her.Once she's comfortable, her affectionate, playful personality starts to shine. Her current favorite way to say hello involves jumping up for attention and attempting to lick your face, so we're working on reminding her that all four paws on the floor is an acceptable greeting, too. She's also a good little crate girl who will go in willingly when asked. She may have a few objections to being left in there, complete with some grumbling and protests, but she eventually settles down. Apparently, she believes her feedback deserves to be heard!A few things to know about Callisto: Cats: A home without cats is recommended. Kids: Older, dog-savvy children may be a possibility with appropriate introductions and supervision. Her sensitivity to noise and quick movements makes a home with young children a concern. New people: She needs time and patience to warm up to strangers. Lifestyle: A playful, medium-drive girl who enjoys her toys, has an independent streak, and knows how to settle. She may also enjoy joining you for a jog!Callisto has also started treatment for heartworm disease. ‍ She'll need to take it easy while she completes treatment, and we're happy she's finally safe and getting the medical care she needs.Callisto is looking for a Malinois-savvy home that understands the importance of patience, confidence-building, and helping a dog feel safe in new situations. We do provide transport assistance up to 350 miles. The applicant must drive the remainder of the distance of the transport.
