In the shelter’s words
Meet Freya — A Gorgeous, Loyal Alaskan Malamute Ready for a Life Filled With Adventure and Love Freya is the kind of Malamute who makes you stop in your tracks. Beautiful, bright, and full of heart, she’s a four‑legged companion who wants nothing more than to be part of a family’s daily rhythm. If you’re searching for a dog who thrives on activity, connection, and purpose, Freya may be the perfect match. A Well‑Mannered, Well‑Trained Girl Freya comes with a solid foundation of training that makes her a joy to live with. She knows sit, stay, down, and will come when called. She’s leash trained, making walks smooth and enjoyable, and she rides calmly in the car, ready for any adventure you throw her way. Her daily routine currently includes long runs, and on Sundays she gets her special treat — a trip to the woods for extended exploring. She’s an active dog who genuinely loves movement, fresh air, and having a job to do. Sweet, Social, and People‑Focused Freya is wonderfully sweet with kids and enjoys meeting new people. She’s affectionate, friendly, and happiest when she’s included in family life. Her current owners have cared for her well and given her basic training, but the setup isn’t ideal for her anymore. She currently lives in Okanogan, WA where s he is kept outdoors. Freya longs to be inside with her humans, ideally with her own cozy bed. Her Ideal Home: Active, Loving, and Attentive Freya’s next chapter should be with a family who truly treasures her. She needs: An active lifestyle — daily exercise, weekend adventures, and plenty of mental stimulation A home where she can live indoors and be part of the family No farm animals due to her strong prey drive Preferably no other dogs, or possibly a large, calm male dog No female dogs, as she can be reactive and competitive with them Freya isn’t aggressive by nature, she’s simply a Malamute with opinions, instincts, and a strong personality. With the right environment, she’ll thrive. A Dog Who Wants to Belong More than anything, Freya wants connection. She wants her people. She wants to be included, guided, and loved. She’s ready for a home that understands the Malamute spirit; independent yet deeply loyal, energetic yet affectionate, stubborn yet endlessly rewarding. If you’re looking for a stunning, devoted companion who will happily join you on runs, hikes, road trips, and everyday life, Freya is waiting for her chance. She’s ready to leave outdoor living behind and step into a future where she’s cherished, engaged, and part of a family that sees her for the incredible dog she is. Important - Please note. Applications are accepted online, then a home visit is scheduled unless the potential adopter does not qualify. After the home visit evaluation form is filled in online, we generally approve and the Adoption Team begins trying to match the humans with a "best fit" mal. We send dog bios to the adopter, who agrees to meet or passes on a particular dog. The adoption fee is $300 ($200 for seniors) which we collect at the time of adoption and hold for two weeks (sometimes longer) until the adoption is finalized.
