In the shelter’s words

Meet Gorda – Your Gentle Companion Basic Info: Name: Gorda Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Labrador Retriever Mix Sex: Female DOB: April 10, 2024 Weight: 45 lbs Intake Date: April 9, 2024 Personality – Shy But Sweet: Gorda is a soft-hearted soul who starts off a little shy but quickly warms up to kind voices and gentle touches. Once she feels safe, her tail starts to wag and her eyes light up with affection. She enjoys quiet companionship, slow introductions, and belly rubs from those she trusts. Gorda is the perfect blend of calm and cuddly—ideal for a home that can offer patience, peace, and love. Breed Information: As a Pit Bull and Labrador Retriever mix, Gorda combines the best of both breeds. Pit Bulls are known for their loyalty, strength, and intelligence, while Labradors are famously friendly, social, and eager to please. This mix often results in a devoted, affectionate companion who thrives with structure and positive reinforcement. Gorda will benefit from daily exercise, enrichment activities, and ongoing socialization. Owner Responsibilities: Provide regular vet care, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and a balanced diet Daily exercise like walks, playtime, or backyard fun Mental stimulation through toys, training, and social experiences Time, patience, and consistency to help build her confidence A safe, secure home environment with supervision and boundaries Positive training methods (no harsh punishment-based approaches) Commitment for Life: When you adopt Gorda, you’re promising to be her safe place for the rest of her life. Through every stage—puppy, adult, and senior—she deserves your loyalty and love. This commitment means never abandoning her due to lifestyle changes, moving, or other temporary setbacks. Gorda will return your lifelong devotion tenfold. Do Not Leash Your Dog Outside Unattended: Gorda should never be tethered or left outside alone. It’s unsafe, isolating, and doesn’t meet her need for companionship and supervision. Dogs who are tied out can become anxious, territorial, and vulnerable to harm. Gorda belongs with you, safely inside and part of your family. Why Adopt Gorda? Gorda is more than a pretty face—she’s a dog waiting for someone to see the beauty in her gentle heart. If you’re the kind of person who values patience, kindness, and forming deep bonds, Gorda will reward you with loyalty, love, and quiet joy. Give her a chance, and she’ll give you a best friend for life.
