In the shelter’s words
Hey there, I'm Pepper! I am a six year old, female Bull Snake that is medium sized at just about four feet. I'm a strikingly beautiful snake in ssssearch of my forever home, hopefully with folks who have had some snake experience before. Bull snakes like me can posture, hiss, and strike to look scary like rattlesnakes when we're nervous. Once I know it's safe, I'm quite curious and adventurous, especially outside of my enclosure! My new habitat size should be a minimum of 60 gallons, but would ideally be a 120-gallon/4’x2’x2’ enclosure. I’d prefer a home with lots of hides and a nice warm side, and a cooler side for me to regulate my temperature. Also, some either fake or real foliage will make me comfortable and will be pleasing to look at. I have been a good eater here at the shelter, and that should continue in my new home. If I sound like your ideal new reptilian companion, swing on by with a picture of my new enclosure to show you're ready to take me home! Pepper ID# A0994833

Plan a visit with the source organization
When a potential adopter comes into the shelter and sees an animal he or she is interested in adopting, we ask the potential adopter to first complete an Adoption Profile. Then, one of our knowledgeable customer service representatives brings the adopter and animal together in one of our Get Acquainted Rooms. There they have a quiet, private space to get to know each other better. During the visit, the customer service representative may discuss the following: past experiences with animals and current animals in the home lifestyle, including work schedule and the kinds of activities they plan to do with their companion animal housing situation - own or rent, size of yard, etc. In order to make the best match possible for a family and home, we suggest potential adopters bring along all members of the household to meet the new companion animal and bring their current dog(s) to meet a potential dog. Adopters must also be 18 or older.
