In the shelter’s words

Pippin is currently enrolled in the 12-week Puppies 4 Parole program through the Mo Department of Corrections. He will graduate towards the end of November and will be available for adoption at that time. If you are interested in adopting Pippin, please complete an application and the foster parent will contact you. Meet Pippin Pippin is a 2-year-old curious, kind-hearted pup who truly wants to make his human happy. His storyline almost ended far too soon. Pippin was pulled from the euthanasia list after experiencing extremely high levels of stress in the shelter environment. Now that he’s out of the shelter, he has the opportunity to show who he really is—and he’s already making incredible progress. Pippin is smart, treat-motivated, eager to learn, and looking for someone who will give him the confident, consistent leadership he needs to thrive. He is already crate trained, potty trained, and housebroken, and he is friendly with both cats and dogs. He loves learning and responds especially well to treats, praise, structure, and clear direction. Pippin does best when his person takes the lead and shows him what is expected. With a confident handler, he walks well on leash and is making wonderful progress with his training. In just one week, he has already learned cues for turning and release, and he is currently working on leash skills and redirection. The shelter environment was incredibly difficult for Pippin, but it did not define him. Outside of that stressful setting, he is showing that he is curious, kind, capable, and eager to connect with his person. Pippin isn’t looking to be the one in charge—he’s looking for a human he can trust to guide him. Give him structure, consistency, patience, and kindness, and he’ll give you an eager student who genuinely wants to get it right. Pippin at a glance: 2 years old Housebroken & potty trained Crate trained Dog friendly Cat friendly Treat motivated Smart and eager to learn Making great progress with leash training Kind, curious, and wants to please Thrives with confident, consistent leadership Given a second chance after being pulled from the euthanasia list Pippin has already been given his second chance at life. Now he needs the person who will give him his chance at a home. Could you be Pippin’s person? If you are interested, complete the Adoption Application on our website at www.NeedyPaws.org and we will contact you. Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Adopters will complete an adoption application which is sent to the dog's foster parent. Their personal and veterinarian references will be checked, a home visit conducted, and then the foster parent will set up a meeting where the adopters will meet the dog. If the adoption is approved, the adopter will then complete an Adoption Contract and the dog is theirs! Adoption fees are $275 for most dogs.
