MA'AM NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home What My Foster Says About Me: Ma'am is a sweet and happy pup with loving eyes who gets along very well with other dogs. She has loads of energy but also enjoys a good snooze after dinner. She did not know any words when she got here, but she is already starting to pick up "sit" and "come here" and is very willing to work for food. She is a super easy-going pup and knows how to keep herself entertained. No separation anxiety, excessive barking, or accidents in the house so far. She's good with other dogs and loves daycare as well! From Her Temporary Foster: Ma’am was named for her beautiful manners. She rides nicely in a car. She treats other dogs as friends she hasn’t met yet. She goes in her crate and stays there quietly. She takes treats gently. She treats homes respectfully and plays with her own toys. She’s quiet, so would do nicely living in an apartment. She’s excellent at remembering to do her business outside. Ma’am loves a dog park when it's not crowded. She has a nice running play style and a good 30 minute dog park visit tires her out for the morning. Ma’am enjoys rounding out the day with one or two more walks of 30 minutes or so. Ma’am also has absolutely stunning eyes. Amber? Golden? Ma’am would be perfectly happy to have you stare into her eyes for hours and decide on the exact right color. Just give her a few scritches behind her ears and tell her what a beauty she is while you gaze. Ma’am is smart too! She’s learning not to pull on leash and to keep all four paws on the ground. She’s making great progress. Ma’am would love to get adopted and be called by a name that more suits her personality. Pogo and Kenga are great possibilities as she has an impressive high jump that gets ooos and ahhhs at the dog park! Heartworm information: Ma'am is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Ma'am has completed this activity restriction period. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
