In the shelter’s words
June 22 2026: Meet Kary! Kary is a small girl with a huge heart and an even bigger spirit. This sweet and courageous little dog was abandoned alongside her two sisters on a beach on the east side of Puerto Rico. We simply couldn’t leave her behind. Despite everything she’s been through, Kary remains happy, loving, and full of life. She loves spending time with people, going for walks, and exploring the world around her. Curious and adventurous by nature, Kary is always ready for her next little adventure. She may be small in size, but she is incredibly brave and confident. Kary is the perfect combination of affectionate and fun. She enjoys being close to her people and will happily become your loyal companion, whether you’re out for a walk or relaxing at home. Now all Kary needs is a family to call her own. She deserves a second chance, a safe home, and a lifetime of love after being abandoned through no fault of her own. ❤️ Kary is ready to find her forever home and become someone’s best friend. Could that be you?

Plan a visit with the source organization
Our adoption process is fairly standard. After at least two of our board members review the application, we follow up with any comments or questions. We then will check all of your references, including the vet reference. The last step in approving your application is a virtual home visit via FaceTime or Zoom. We do this to ensure that we are leaving the dog in a safe place, and to further answer any of your questions about the process. The virtual home visit lets us meet you, and clarify the next steps of the dog's arrival. When we adopt out adult dogs, we ALWAYS do a foster to adopt process. We never have you sign any adoption contracts until you have met the dog, and decided it is a good fit. We ask that once the dog arrives you give it 1-2 weeks before making any final decisions. This allows the dog to safely adjust to you and to get used to its new surroundings. Also you will have some time to bond with the dog. Once you are ready to finalize the adoption, we will have you then fill out and return the adoption contract, sign and return the diet agreement, pay the $400.00 adoption fee, and schedule a vet visit. We will stay in touch during every step of the way. We care deeply about these dogs and are here to support you through this journey.
