In the shelter’s words

This past winter, a man quietly moved out of his apartment and left three cats behind. His roommate didn't know what to do with them, and when the lease ended, put them outside during a historic freeze. A volunteer with SAFCC found them huddled tightly together, desperately trying to keep each other warm. One cat was adopted quickly. The other two, Ghosty and Ziggy, have been waiting for a home ever since.Ziggy is an anxious cat, and it's easy to understand why. Maybe it's what happened to him. Maybe it's simply who he is. It took two full months of living with his foster before he came out of hiding and decided he wanted affection and play. He's likely to adjust faster in a forever home, but don't be surprised if he spends his first few weeks tucked away, watching from a distance before he decides you're safe.He has unusually expressive, soulful eyes. His visible sadness when he’s scared is heartbreaking. The rest of the time he’s a wide-eyed, expressive, goofy goober!Once comfortable, he can be sweet and playful. If he trusts you, he’s always happy to be petted. He loves exploring high places. He loves to go “hunting” and chase after moving toys or other cats. He may decide to wrestle your shoe, wrestle with a kicker toy, or find a comfortable spot and adorably twist back and forth with happiness.Sudden noises and quick movements startle him easily, which means a bustling household with young children or an energetic dog would likely be too much for him. He's learned to live alongside other cats, but new animals still make him nervous, and he may take a swipe at another cat who gets too close too fast.Although he takes a long time to get used to new places and friends, Ziggy is an affectionate and playful cat. Having a feline playmate for him is strongly recommended so he doesn’t get lonely. If you have patience to spare and a quiet home to offer, Ziggy could be exactly the cat you didn't know you were looking for. Once earned, his trust and affection are precious gifts for the right person. And who can say no to those eyes?See photos and videos of Ziggy in this Google Photos album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/j34rdfkRnS9i2bND9To inquire about adopting this cat please complete an adoption application at tinyurl.com/ccapadoptions
