In the shelter’s words
June Bug is the sweetest girl you'll ever meet. She was brought into a shelter by someone suspected of being her owner, primarily because she has a microchip. The “owner” said she didn’t want the dog anymore and refused to give any information – not even her name. The shelter’s rescue coordinator named her June Bug. She is friendly, calm, easygoing (though she’s been known to tell one of her foster’s dogs to back off when he starts to bug her) and loving. She’s a delightful companion at restaurants that allow dogs, sitting quietly in her stroller as the world goes by. She's curious about other dogs but not overly interested. "Live and let live" seems to be her motto. She likes to be with people and will join you on the sofa as you read or watch TV. She's equally at home sleeping in a dog bed or on your bed, and she loves observing the world from her stroller. June Bug is blind. We don't know why. Her vet hasn't determined a cause, so we are planning to take her to a veterinary ophthalmologist to see if they can shed some light on her situation. Like most dogs, however, blindness doesn't stop her from being a happy girl who enjoys exploring and hanging out. Don't let it stop you from checking her out. She's an absolute doll! She would be appropriate for an apartment. A fenced yard or patio would be fine, but no decks, please. She must be on a leash when outdoors and not allowed to wander.

Note: The adoption application can be filled out before meeting the dog, upon meeting the dog, or after meeting the dog. 1. Initial discussion with potential adopters. 2. Meet and greet with dog (can be people and dogs or just people the first time). 3. Further meetings if needed to get dog and other pets in the home comfortable and/or get dog comfortable with adopters. 4. Home check (may be done after step 2/3 or concurrent with step 3). 5. Adoption agreement (we always take our dogs back if it doesn't work out). 6. Fee for most dogs: $200 (occasionally for an older dog or dog with medical issues the fee will be reduced or even waived in the case of a foster or someone who has provided care and monetary investment in the dog). We will refund the fee if the dog comes back to us within two weeks of adoption. After that period we keep the fee, but will always take the dog back.
