Hi! I'm Mistletoe! I'm ready to sprinkle a little bunny magic wherever my paws may hop! Just imagine cozy winter evenings, flickering candles, and a little extra holiday cheer with me by your side. I may not be one of Santa's reindeer, but I sure know how to make spirits bright! My biggest Christmas wish isn't wrapped in pretty paper or tucked beneath the tree - it's a loving indoor home where I can feel safe, cherished, and adored all year long. I am looking for a nice quiet home where I would have lots of room to explore and a family to give me all the snuggles I could ask for. Although I love treats Santa has put me on a little diet this year, so treats are off my Christmas list for now. That means I'll have to admire those dandelions from afar until I'm given the green light for goodies again! But don't worry, I have plenty of love and bunny magic to share without the treats! And while dandelions may be at the top of my Christmas list, a forever family would be the most magical gift of all! All I want for Christmas is YOU! Rabbits are the third most common pet (after cats and dogs), they are also the third most common pet to be surrendered to shelters. It is important that when committing to taking care of a rabbit for the entirety of its life that you are prepared for that commitment. Rabbits live roughly 8-12 years with proper indoor care. Rabbits require annual vet exams much like a dog or cat to ensure their teeth are growing at a healthy rate and to check their weight, ears, heart, etc. If kept in an enclosed space, rabbits need time outside of their enclosure to exercise daily. Some families have integrated their rabbit into their home having a 'free range' rabbit much like a cat or dog. Having room to exercise is critical for your rabbits mental and physical health. Not only does this help your rabbit from becoming bored and destructive but it helps their delicate gastrointestinal system properly move food throughout their body. Adult rabbits should be provided with unlimited hay (Timothy or Orchard Grass), a small portion (¼ cup) of rabbit pellets, and a small handful of fresh rabbit safe vegetables daily (some examples include: parsley, cilantro, dandelion greens). The SPCA strongly encourages Adoption Holds to ensure I will be waiting to meet you when you arrive. To make an Adoption Hold, please call 831-373-2631. The Adoption Center is open to meet me without an Adoption Hold, however you may need to wait for an adoption time to become available and I may already be adopted. If you are adopting a dog, you can meet him in one of our new dog condo rooms or play in one of our play yards. 3. Complete family introductions (every member of the family living in the house with the animal must meet and visit with the animal prior to adoption to ensure a happy fit for everyone). 4. If you are adopting a new dog and already have one at home, our animal care staff will assist you with introducing your current dog to the dog you are hoping to adopt to ensure a good match. 5. The SPCA adoption process takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. All paperwork, vaccination records, and microchip information will be provided at this time. Adoption fees range from $20 to $290. 6. Take your new lifelong family member home!
