In the shelter’s words
Poppy is a 12-year-old gentle girl who is friendly, playful and social. She likes to be with people, and also be on her own sometimes, explore her world, sit in high places and look out a window at birds and chipmunks. For a napping place she loves her cozy cave on a cat tree, with a view out the window and a soft snuggle bed on top of a chair. Poppy is a social eater. She greets you purrfully at mealtimes and loves to be petted or brushed while she enjoys her chow. She is very good and proper at using her litter box. In her first home, Poppy didn't feel safe or wanted. There were rambunctious dogs, bullying cats, and people who didn't pay attention to her. Poppy would love to have several people to relate to, rather than being a companion to one or two. The perfect home for Poppy would be a spacious place with a cat-savvy family who like to dote on a senior kitty and play with her every day, and who also leave her be when she wants her private time. Her new family would know to be gentle and encouraging, so that Poppy can feel safe and loved. Please note that Kingdom Animal Shelter is not a "same day" adoption shelter. Please visit our website at http://www.kingdomanimalshelter.com/adopt-a-cat.html to learn about our adoption process.

To adopt from Kingdom Animal Shelter: Complete an adoption application and authorization for release of information form and bring them to the Shelter during adoption hours or email them to adoptions@kingdomanimalshelter.com or mail them in to P.O. Box 462, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819. The application and release of information forms are available on our website or you can pick them up from the shelter during adoption hours. An adoption counselor will review your application, contact 1-2 personal references and contact your veterinarian for a reference. Additionally, if you are a renter, we will contact your landlord for permission to have an animal in the household. Please allow at least 3 business days for the process to be completed. After the review is complete, the adoption counselor will contact you, generally by email or by phone and you will be notified if your application is approved or declined. If the application is approved, you will work with the adoption counselor to work out a mutually agreed upon time and date for you to take your cat home. If there is a cat or kitten that you would like to meet and potentially adopt, please come meet them at the shelter, contact us, and/or fill out the 2 forms above and mail or email them to us.
