In the shelter’s words

Starting October 6, all cats and kittens are FREE to adopt! Come find your new best friend today!A little head tilt, a lot of personality, and endless love to give. Meet Fiona, an 11-month-old cat who is finally ready to find her forever home.Fiona first came to us as a young mom and spent time raising her babies in our care until they were old enough to venture out on their own. Now that her parenting duties are behind her, it's finally Fiona's turn to be spoiled and find a soft place to land. This playful, fun-loving girl is always on the lookout for her next toy. Whether it's a toy mouse, a crinkly blanket, or something she can bat across the floor, Fiona can turn just about anything into a game. If it moves, Fiona considers it a toy!Beyond her playful side, Fiona absolutely loves people and enjoys spending time with her human friends. She's the kind of cat who brings joy and entertainment wherever she goes. When you meet Fiona, you'll notice her adorable head tilt. This is the result of an old injury and does not affect her quality of life one bit. In fact, it only adds to her charm and unique personality. Fiona doesn't let it slow her down and continues to play, explore, and enjoy life just like any other young cat.Fiona has not shown any issues when seeing dogs, though a dog that understands and respects cats would be her ideal canine companion. She has also done well with other cats and has shown no issues with children. If you're looking for a playful, affectionate cat with a one-of-a-kind look and a heart full of love, Fiona is ready to tilt her way right into your heart. Fiona's adoption fee is $50, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! We welcome adopters from out of state to apply! _When it comes to our pets, we're all-inclusive! ACSKC Health Care for Each Adopted Pet Includes:Dogs: Preventatives for parasites, vaccines (Kennel Cough, Distemper, Rabies), spay/neuter, microchip, behavioral assessment.Cats: Parasite treatment, FeLV/FIV testing, deworming for kittens, vaccines (Distemper, Rabies), spay/neuter, microchip. What You’ll Take Home:Toys, treats, and food sampleRabies tag, microchip number, and medical recordsA “Pet Pal Packet” with feeding info, training tips, and guidance for helping your new pet adjust

Plan a visit with the source organization

Once you’re ready to adopt, head over to our Adoption Application to fill out and submit the form. Once our Adoption Team has reviewed and approved your application, we will give you a call to schedule an appointment with the pet! When you arrive at ACSKC, you will be greeted by our Adoption Coordinator and taken to meet the pet, either in our Meet and Greet Room or one of the play yards. If you already have pets in the home, you may be asked to bring them with you for a meet and greet to ensure they will get along in the home (this typically only applies to dogs). If you and our Adoption Coordinator feel like it is a good match, we will then finalize the paperwork and send you home with a bag of goodies, including our “Welcoming Your New Pet Home Guide,” toys, treats and a sample bag of their pet food. If it is not a good match, you are welcome to meet the other available pets in the shelter. Your approved application will be kept on file for 90 days, so you’re encouraged to take your time before making a decision!
