In the shelter’s words
Meet Dolly - the little girl with the biggest heart! Sometimes a dog comes along who just seems to appreciate everything life has to offer. Maybe it’s because Dolly was rescued from such sad and lonely beginnings… or maybe it’s simply who she was born to be. But that’s our sweet Dolly. ❤️ Dolly is a 1½ yr old, 34 lb "pocket pittie." She's the perfect compact size, with a whole lot of love and playful energy packed inside. She absolutely LOVES other dogs and has so much fun playing with her four-legged friends. And as far as Dolly is concerned, everyone she meets - two-legged or four-legged - is simply a friend she hasn’t gotten to know yet. . She’s also discovering just how big and wonderful the world can be. New places? She’s excited. Parks? She’s in! Water? Absolutely! ✨ Everything is an adventure to Dolly, and watching her experience these things for the first time is pretty special. She’s learning, growing, and becoming the wonderful little companion she was meant to be. Dolly is already crate trained and leash trained, and she’ll head to the door to let you know when she needs to go potty. She’s off to a wonderful start - and now she’s looking for the family who will help her keep discovering all the good things life has to offer. . She wants a family who will take her for walks, explore new places with her, share in her adventures, and, most importantly, love her as wholeheartedly as she will love them. Dolly has so much love to give. She’s ready to discover just how beautiful forever can be. ❤️ Could you be the happily ever after this little girl has been waiting for? Complete an online application This is the first step and does not obligate you in any way. There is no application fee. â Reference and Vet Check call veterinarian to verify that your current/previous pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and well cared for if you rent, weâll contact your landlord to confirm pet policies and any breed or size restrictions â Contact from an Adoption Counselor If your application appears to be a match, an adoption counselor will reach out to discuss the dog(s) youâre interested in Note: Due to high interest in some dogs, only selected applicants may be contacted. â Schedule a Meet & Greet When you're ready to proceed with a specific pup, an adoption counselor will work with you to schedule a Meet & Greet usually at the home where the dog is fostered. All household members must attend to meet the dog you're interested in. â Start the Sleepover Period After a successful Meet & Greet, youâll begin a minimum 7-day sleepover to ensure a good fit between you and the dog. â Finalize the Adoption or Return to Rochester Rascals If at any point itâs not the right match, you will return the dog to the foster home. If everyone in your family agrees to move forward with adoption, you'll: Receive a digital adoption contract via email. Complete the paperwork and submit payment. Receive a confirmation email and access the dogâs medical records. Note: adoption fees typically only cover about a third of the actual cost to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome the animals in our care
