In the shelter’s words

Meet 1½-year-old Cupid! Like many shepherds, Cupid takes a moment to warm up to new people—but once you're in his circle, you'll have a fiercely loyal best friend for life. Cupid is: House trained Crate trained Dog friendly (he does best with medium/large dogs—his play style is a little too enthusiastic for small pups!) Young, playful, and ready for adventure Cupid is looking for: A home without children, as they make him a bit nervous A large fenced yard or acreage where he can stretch his legs A hiking partner, explorer, and best friend who understands the breed and will give him the time he needs to settle in and thrive This sweet boy has so much love to give. Could you be Cupid's forever person? Cupid's adoption fee is $400 Filling an application is the first step to meet him! - www.RochesterRASCALS.org/dogs

Complete an online application This is the first step and does not obligate you in any way. There is no application fee. Reference and Vet Check call veterinarian to verify that your current/previous pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and well cared for if you rent, we’ll contact your landlord to confirm pet policies and any breed or size restrictions Contact from an Adoption Counselor If your application appears to be a match, an adoption counselor will reach out to discuss the dog(s) you’re interested in Note: Due to high interest in some dogs, only selected applicants may be contacted. Schedule a Meet & Greet When you're ready to proceed with a specific pup, an adoption counselor will work with you to schedule a Meet & Greet usually at the home where the dog is fostered. All household members must attend to meet the dog you're interested in.   Start the Sleepover Period After a successful Meet & Greet, you’ll begin a minimum 7-day sleepover to ensure a good fit between you and the dog. Finalize the Adoption or Return to Rochester Rascals If at any point it’s not the right match, you will return the dog to the foster home. If everyone in your family agrees to move forward with adoption, you'll: Receive a digital adoption contract via email. Complete the paperwork and submit payment. Receive a confirmation email and access the dog’s medical records. Note: adoption fees typically only cover about a third of the actual cost to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome the animals in our care
