In the shelter’s words

THIS animal listing is a COURTESY LISTING - not a 13th St Cat Rescue animal. See information about whom to contact in bio THANK YOU Meet Lokki! Lokki is a gentle, easygoing boy who is ready to trade outdoor life for the comfort and security of a loving indoor home. He clearly enjoys being around people and deserves a family who can give him the love, safety, and care he's been missing. Despite reaching out to multiple local shelters, they have all been at capacity, so I am privately rehoming Lokki in hopes of finding him the forever home he deserves. Because of some ongoing medical needs, an indoor home is especially important for his health and quality of life. Personality Lokki is incredibly calm, affectionate, and easy to handle. He quickly warmed up to me, allowing me to pet him, pick him up, brush him, wipe his eyes, touch his paws, and even give him medication without much fuss. He's a chatty boy who isn't shy about sharing his opinions with a few meows! Whenever I'm outside in the yard or garage, he'll happily settle down nearby just to keep me company. He loves meeting new people and greets them by rubbing against their legs in search of pets. He's also litter box trained and, because of his urinary condition, will do best with at least two litter boxes. Medical Needs Lokki has a history of urinary crystals and a urinary blockage, which are common issues in male cats. He'll need to eat primarily wet food and always have access to plenty of fresh water. Keeping his stress low, providing environmental enrichment, and encouraging good hydration are all important parts of helping him stay healthy. With the right care, many cats with urinary issues go on to live happy, comfortable lives. For more information about feline lower urinary tract disease, visit the American Veterinary Medical Association: https://www.avma.org/resources-tools/pet-owners/petcare/feline-lower-urinary-tract-disease If you'd like to learn more about Lokki or schedule a meet-and-greet, please contact Angelique at angeliqueadams22@gmail.com.

Plan a visit with the source organization

To meet our rescued cats/kitten: we ask that you fill out an adoption application first. Once you submit an application, a volunteer will contact you. All of our kitties are in foster homes; some can be seen at the foster homes, or at an upcoming Adoption Fair. We ask for your understanding: We are an all-volunteer organization and many of us have full-time jobs outside of our volunteer activities; therefore, it may be a few days before someone can respond to your email. We always try to reply as soon as possible. The kitties are for adoption, not for sale. Adoption fee for kittens is $125 ($200 for two) to help cover some of our food and veterinary expenses. All cats and kittens are: vaccinated as appropriate for their age microchipped dewormed deflead tested for FELV (feline leukemia) / FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) spayed/neutered prior to adoption We will ask you some questions about your home and we will be glad to answer any questions you may have. Adopting a kitty is a long-term commitment; the average life span for a kitty is 15-20 years. Most of our cats are in foster homes with other cats. They get lonely and bored without the company of their own kind, just like people. We try to place cats that enjoy the company of other cats in a home where there is feline companionship. But we do have many cats that would be happy to be the only cat in your life! Regardless of how an animal comes to us, we provide food, shelter, and medical care. The animals do not live in cages but in volunteer foster homes. We usually know the personalities of the cats and kittens we rescue, so we can tell you which cat or kitten(s) might be the best match for you and/or the feline companion you already have. http://www.13thstcats.org/info/adoption
