In the shelter’s words
Nemo is a sweet, quirky boy who knows what he likes: a comfortable place to nap, a person of his own, and—most importantly—an uninterrupted supply of running faucet water. Before coming to Revelation Gardens, Nemo belonged to someone he loved deeply. When his owner passed away, Nemo lost his person and the life he knew. He was placed with a family member, but the arrangement didn’t work out, and eventually his owner’s wife contacted us. She drove Nemo all the way from Maryland to Revelation Gardens, where he could have the time and space he needed to grieve and adjust. And grieve he did. Nemo missed his daddy terribly. When he first arrived, he kept his distance and wasn’t always receptive to affection. If someone crossed a boundary, Nemo had no trouble communicating his displeasure—occasionally with a well-placed slap. Over time, we’ve watched him begin to come back to himself. He’s happier, more comfortable and increasingly affectionate, although he’s still a cat who appreciates having his boundaries respected. Nemo is healthy, neutered and up to date on vaccinations. He would love a quieter home with someone who understands that trust may take a little time—and who would give him the chance to have his own person again . A willingness to leave the faucet running now and then would probably earn you bonus points. Could you be Nemo’s person this time around? Come spend some time with him and let him decide.

Once you’ve found a rescue you’d like to welcome into your family, the first step is completing our adoption application. Our adoption process is designed to help create lasting matches. We’ll talk with you about the animal you’ve chosen and make sure their personality, needs, and energy level are a good fit for your home and lifestyle. We’ll also verify references and, in some circumstances—particularly with dog adoptions—may conduct a home visit. We aren’t looking for a perfect home. We’re looking for the right fit for both you and the animal. Our adoption fee is $125 and includes spay/neuter, current rabies vaccination, and flea/tick prevention (the fee for bonded pairs is $150 for both). Once your application is approved, we’ll schedule a time to complete the adoption paperwork and welcome your new family member home.
