AFRAID OF LONG-TERM COMMITMENT? TRY FOSTERING! Dakota Dachshund Rescue always needs more volunteers to fulfill our mission of rescuing Dachshunds and Dachshund mixes. We especially need foster homes, but also welcome anyone who would like to help with transporting, fundraising, adoption and education events, or any number of ways to support our rescue group. If you are an adult (18 years or older) and can offer some of your time and love for our dachshunds, please go to our website www.dakotadachshundrescue.org for more information and to complete a membership application. Please share with us in helping a rescued dog find his forever, loving home. You will find it to be one of life's most rewarding and fulfilling experiences.

Usually we are contacted by a SD shelter about a dachshund that is not doing well (nipping etc.) and that they are going to be put down. We take them in get them vetted and then place them up for adoption after they have been evaluated. We also take calls from folks who have called their local shelter about there dachshund that may have started nipping at small children etc and are told the dog would be put down. We also take calls from other rescues about breeder dogs.
