In the shelter’s words
Meet the Magnificent Monteray! Looking for a loyal, lively companion with a big personality? Monteray, a handsome, 60-pound charmer with an estimated age of 2-3 years old! This guy is the total package: smart, playful, and incredibly affectionate toward people. When guests arrive, he insists they watch his grand performance with his favorite toys in the backyard - he is a true showman! Monteray enjoys going for car rides and walks. He walks well on a gentle leader. He is completely house-trained and crate-trained. He plays well with the resident dog in his foster home. Monteray has a huge heart and so much love to give. Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
