In the shelter’s words

MEET SMOKEY Smokey is one of those special cats who makes you wonder how such a sweet soul ever ended up living on the streets. At about 3 years old, Smokey is a big, beautiful gray-and-white Domestic Shorthair — nearly 18 pounds of pure love! This gentle giant is incredibly soft, sweet and affectionate. He loves chest and tummy rubs, curling up beside you on the couch, watching TV and, of course, climbing into any paper bag or cardboard box he can find! Rescued from the streets of Long Beach while battling an upper respiratory illness, Smokey is now on the mend and absolutely loving indoor life. He’s playful, mellow, good around cats and dogs, and seems genuinely grateful for every meal, toy, cuddle and soft place to sleep. Smokey has already known what it’s like to be homeless. We want to make sure he never knows that feeling again. He deserves a stable, lifelong home and a person who will cherish him for the next 15+ years, or who has a clear lifelong care plan in place. Smokey is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and flea-treated and ready to go home. ❤️ Could you be the person Smokey has been waiting for? Please don’t let this lovable 18-pound sweetheart spend another chapter of his life waiting for a family. Apply to adopt Smokey and give him the safe, loving forever home he deserves. An adoption donation of $175 is appreciated to help offset his medical care. Text 562-588-4272 with your email address to request an application, email adoptions@lbsn.org, or visit lbsn.org to apply online and see our other adoptable animals. Why Adopt from LBSN? At LBSN, we pride ourselves on the quality, care and dedication we give to every cat we rescue. Our cats are never kept in cages or adoption centers — they live in our foster homes as part of the family until they are healthy, happy and truly ready for adoption. Because we live with them, we get to know their personalities extremely well, which allows us to focus on making the right match, not simply making an adoption. With nearly 30 years of rescue experience, we’re also here after adoption to offer guidance and support whenever you need it. For us, success is knowing we’ve done right by each cat and found them a loving home for life. ❤️
