In the shelter’s words

Meet Mouse!Mouse is almost 6 months old and has had a rough start. She was found as a scared, very sick feral kitten at the Portland Forge, and some kind employees brought her to us. She went to foster care for a while. Now she's spayed and ready for her forever home. The virus she caught before she got to us did a real number on her eyes. She is visually impaired from it, but she does have some limited vision. Her inner eyelids will stay over her eyes for life, which gives her a look that is entirely her own. Indoor cats live very well with limited vision, though, and Mouse has already figured out how to find the most comfortable spot in any room.Because of her feral beginnings, she's still a little scared and skittish at times. Once she trusts you, she loves pets. She also sleeps in the most ridiculous ways: leg stuck straight out, flat on her back in the hammock, wedged into a corner like she's trying to hide from the furniture. Mouse would do best in an indoor home with older children. She hasn't been around dogs. She has a best friend named Dove, a gray and white medium hair who came from the same place just as sick. Dove recently lost an eye to a similar virus. Dove is adorable and would love to go along with Mouse, and she’s a bit less skittish too. If you want to adopt them together, it's $125 for both. Mouse on her own is $75.Applications are at www.midwestpetrefuge.com/adopt If you are interested in adopting this pet, please go to www.midwestpetrefuge.com/adopt to complete an application.
