In the shelter’s words
In honor of Pit Bull Awareness Month, my adoption fee is WAIVED for the entire month of October! ❤ Built like a truck, powered by zoomies, and convinced he's a lap dog. Meet Ford, your future co-pilot for every adventure. Meet Ford!Ford is a 1-year-old Pit Bull with a stunning dark red coat and the personality of a big, goofy baby. He's all about playtime, running, cuddles, and toys. Ford may not have a lot of deep thoughts bouncing around in his head, but he knows one thing for sure: he's ready to be your best friend.Think of him like a Ford F-150: strong, dependable, built for adventure, and always excited to go wherever you're headed. He's the kind of dog who's happiest riding shotgun through life.Ford is a big guy with an even bigger heart. While he loves people, he prefers to be approached on his terms. He is not a fan of having his face touched or having people lean over him when first meeting him. Giving him a little space and letting him come to you helps him feel comfortable and confident.Despite his size, Ford is convinced he's a lap dog. This boy loves couches, chairs, and any cozy spot he can fit himself into. If there's a seat available, expect Ford to claim it and make himself right at home. His favorite activities include relaxing with his people and soaking up attention after a day of play.Like many young dogs, Ford is also a bit of a counter surfer. If there's food within reach, he'll happily investigate to see if it's meant for him. His future family will need to help him continue learning good manners around food and keep tempting snacks safely out of reach. With consistency and training, Ford can continue building better habits.Ford could do well with dog-savvy kids aged 12 and older who are comfortable around large, playful, and energetic dogs. Any children in the home should be able to respect his boundaries and handle his enthusiastic, goofy personality.During his cat test, Ford was a little too interested in our feline friends, so he'll also need a cat-free home.Ford is currently taking Fluoxetine and Gabapentin to help manage shelter-related anxiety. These medications cannot be stopped without veterinary approval, and any changes to his treatment plan should be made under the guidance of a licensed veterinarian.Ford is a sweet, energetic boy with a huge heart who is looking for a home that understands his boundaries and appreciates his goofy personality. If you're looking for a loyal companion who loves adventures just as much as cuddling on the couch, Ford is ready to ride shotgun straight into your heart. ❤️Ford was sponsored by Jody Baker “ The Property Toller”! Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! Once you’re ready to adopt, head over to our Adoption Application to fill out and submit the form. Once our Adoption Team has reviewed and approved your application, we will give you a call to schedule an appointment with the pet! When you arrive at ACSKC, you will be greeted by our Adoption Coordinator and taken to meet the pet, either in our Meet and Greet Room or one of the play yards. If you already have pets in the home, you may be asked to bring them with you for a meet and greet to ensure they will get along in the home (this typically only applies to dogs). If you and our Adoption Coordinator feel like it is a good match, we will then finalize the paperwork and send you home with a bag of goodies, including our “Welcoming Your New Pet Home Guide,” toys, treats and a sample bag of their pet food. If it is not a good match, you are welcome to meet the other available pets in the shelter. Your approved application will be kept on file for 90 days, so you’re encouraged to take your time before making a decision!
