In the shelter’s words
Luna is a 9-year-old spayed female looking for a patient family who will give her the time she needs to feel safe. While her past wasn’t always kind to her, once she trusts you, her sweet and silly personality shines through. Luna loves leisurely walks, lounging on the back of the couch to keep an eye on everything, and surprising her favorite people with a gentle ear lick when she wants some attention. She’s happiest spending quiet time with the people she loves. Because Luna can be nervous in new situations, she’ll need an adopter who understands that trust takes time. Once she settles in, she’s affectionate, loyal, and full of personality. She would thrive in a calm, quiet home. She would likely do best as the only dog or with a calm, older dog who will respect her space and let her adjust at her own pace. If you’re looking for a companion who will reward your patience with unwavering love and plenty of quirky moments, Luna may be the perfect match. She just needs someone willing to give her the chance she deserves. Is your heart ready to open to sweet Luna? Filling an application is the first step to meet her! - www.RochesterRASCALS.org/dogs

Complete an online application This is the first step and does not obligate you in any way. There is no application fee. â Reference and Vet Check call veterinarian to verify that your current/previous pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and well cared for if you rent, weâll contact your landlord to confirm pet policies and any breed or size restrictions â Contact from an Adoption Counselor If your application appears to be a match, an adoption counselor will reach out to discuss the dog(s) youâre interested in Note: Due to high interest in some dogs, only selected applicants may be contacted. â Schedule a Meet & Greet When you're ready to proceed with a specific pup, an adoption counselor will work with you to schedule a Meet & Greet usually at the home where the dog is fostered. All household members must attend to meet the dog you're interested in. â Start the Sleepover Period After a successful Meet & Greet, youâll begin a minimum 7-day sleepover to ensure a good fit between you and the dog. â Finalize the Adoption or Return to Rochester Rascals If at any point itâs not the right match, you will return the dog to the foster home. If everyone in your family agrees to move forward with adoption, you'll: Receive a digital adoption contract via email. Complete the paperwork and submit payment. Receive a confirmation email and access the dogâs medical records. Note: adoption fees typically only cover about a third of the actual cost to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome the animals in our care
