In the shelter’s words
Meet Mugsy, affectionately known as Mugs! At 5 years old and 80 pounds, this gorgeous pittie mix is a true gentle giant. With his striking brindle coat and soul-piercing, caramel-colored eyes, one look from Mugs is all it takes to completely steal your heart. He has a way of looking right into your soul that lets you know just how deeply loving he really is. If you love road trips or just running quick errands around town, Mugs is your ultimate co-pilot. His absolute favorite thing in the whole world is riding shotgun in the car, soaking in the sights, feeling the breeze, and just being right by his favorite people's side. He is the best travel buddy you could ask for and is always ready for the next adventure. When he isn’t riding co-pilot, Mugs is just as happy in the home. He is both house trained and crate trained, making his transition into his forever family a breeze. If you are looking for a handsome, loyal, and loving big boy to share all of life's journeys with, Mugsy is ready to jump into the passenger seat and head home with you! Apply to meet him today!

Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
