In the shelter’s words
Greetings, my name is Sheba. I’m a sleek black beauty with a tiny white locket on my chest—like a little secret I carry everywhere I go. I enjoy being around people and other cats, but I’m the kind of girl who prefers to watch the world from a comfortable distance. I’ll sit nearby, quietly observing, taking everything in before I decide how close I want to be. I'm a great listener and if want someone to talk to I'm your girl. I’m still learning that hands can be kind, so I’m hesitant about being petted. But if you bring treats into the conversation, I become much more open to the idea. With something tasty to nibble on, I’ll let you give me gentle pets and start to trust you bit by bit. I’m looking for someone patient—someone who understands that I need to take my time and adjust on my own terms. I don’t rush into new things, but once I feel safe, I’ll slowly let you into my world. I don’t need much, just a calm home, kindness, and the freedom to bloom at my own pace. If you’re willing to let me be myself and grow steadily beside you, I could become a quiet, loyal companion who’s always nearby, watching over you with soft, thoughtful eyes. Estimated Birthdate: 10/26/2021 Likes: Other kitties, being a good listener, and playing together with my toys. Dislikes: Getting too close to the action! Volunteer Update: Sheba is slow to trust people, but can be friendly with people who give her treats on a regular basis. It's been my experience that the cats that are slow to love me, are the ones that capture my heart the most. When they finally trust me, look me in the eye with a slow blink and even crawl on my lap, it is one of the most rewarding moments of my life. To schedule a meet/greet with this pawsome kitty, we recommend that you complete a Pre-Adoption Application, which is available here: https://www.shelteringhands.org/adoptionapplication.
