In the shelter’s words

Meet Sammy, the 1 year old black cat! Sammy came to the shelter with another cat, Maximo, after their owner moved to a place that did not allow pets. They both lived with another cat in the home and did well with that cat too. Sammy is a little more timid than his companion, but he is a sweet boy, nonetheless. His previous owner said that Sammy loved to play with feather toys, and was good with children 3 and up. Sammy will do well in a home that allows him time to warm up so that his true purr-sonality can shine brightly. Sammy is available for preadoption - come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery! This cat's adoption fee is reduced by $20 due to the Bogey Fund - a fund that draws adopter's eyes towards often overlooked black cats in Shelters. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
