Puppies don't come much cuter than little Bleu! Bleu is about 4 months old, and she is an affectionate and fun girl ready for love. She is the last of our Cheese-named puppies to be adopted, and she can't wait to be your new BFF. She is a moderate-energy puppy who loves playtime, but also enjoys being carried around and being a lap dog. Bleu weighs about 5lbs and we think she will be around 10-15lbs when fully grown. Bleu was born in foster care after her mom was rescued from a local shelter and was unknowingly pregnant. It wasn't safe to spay mom, so she had 4 healthy puppies - all named after types of cheese, as mom's name was Grilled Cheese. Grilled Cheese is about 10lbs and is some sort of scruffy terrier mix. We don't know who dad is, but some of the puppies in the litter have curly, poodle-like fur. Mom and the other three puppies have been adopted, so now it's Bleu's turn! Bleu is a little ball of happiness who will brighten your days with her adorable prances and goofy personality. She is the perfect mix of puppy fun and lap dog energy and could be a great companion for someone who wants a compact buddy to tag along for whatever the day brings. She has already learned how to be a well-behaved purse dog in public. Bleu is still learning all of her basic manners, so she needs a family dedicated to continuing her training and socialization. Bleu loves other dogs and has done great living with dogs of all sizes. We would love for her to be adopted by someone who has a playful pup for her to bond with. She can be a little shy sometimes, so having a confident dog to mentor her will help her continue to be brave. Bleu has been raised around cats and does well respecting their space. Bleu has done great with older kids and could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 7 years and older. Bleu is still working on her house training and has been doing well learning how to use a dog door and potty outside. She is okay being left alone for short periods and sleeps through the night being left in a pen or a bathroom. She would do best with someone who doesn't have to leave her alone often or for long. She may do okay living in an apartment with proper daily exercise. Bleu is such a darling girl, and she is going to bring so much love to her new family's life. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.
