WOODY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Woody Best Guess for Breed: Lab mix Best Guess for Age: 2.5 years as of July 2026 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 43.4 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster Special adoption considerations: Woody is a truly Lucky Dog.He tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Woody is Looking For: His forever home! This boy is in his prime as a young adult dog and is eagerly looking forward to having his own humans for sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. And dog school so he can show how super smart he is. And then pets and cuddles and belly scritches at the end of a fun day together. And he'll want quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved. In exchange he promises all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags he's storing up, and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Does Woody have a spot in your home and your heart? What My Foster Says About Me: Woody is doing great! He is an awesome dog! He has been doing great with potty training, does not go on the furniture and it’s super loving with adults and children. Loves to play with other dogs in the dog park. He sleeps in his crate wonderfully and takes lots of naps during the day with no issue after his morning walk. I have been walking him 1 hour during the morning and 30 min at night plus a daily visit to a dog park. He would benefit from some walk on leash training because he pulls, but it’s just out of excitement! And he definitely needs someone that can take him daily to the dog park. He is food motivated. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.
