In the shelter’s words
Howdy, My name is Elvis. IâÃôm not trying to be sexy. ItâÃôs just my way of expressing myself when I move around. Some people tap their feet, some people snap their fingers, and some people sway back and forth. I just sorta do âÃôem all together LOL My story is a strange one. tired, hungry and scared. A nice couple found me and noticed that I wasn't in too bad of shape. They coaxed me over, noticed I was neutered and thought maybe I was chipped. Lo and behold they found out I was!!! They called Lucies and the nice lady there called the chip company to see who I belonged too. Bad news, the original owners closed the account like 8 days earlier.....luckily an animal shelter about 140 miles away held secondary ownership. After much exhausting and grueling time on the phone with them, the animal shelter would not take me back because I was not found in their county. What the heck fire???? What type of shelter would do that???!!!! Good thing I landed at Lucies, they truly care about me!!! They got me all vetted up and I am a healthy, fun loving boy. I'm good at car riding and I do well on a leash. I need someone who will take me home and love me and never abandon me. Please be you!!! *** We strive to ensure our dogs are going to a safe, loving and caring home. Phone interviews are required for all adoptions****

Plan a visit with the source organization
Interested adopters contact our adoption volunteer either via email or phone. Our volunteer in turn talks to them more about the pet they are interested in. If the adopter seems like a good match, they are requested to complete an application. They come to the rescue location to meet the dog of interest. We also sometimes arrange a home visit to make sure the environment is suitable for the dog. If all is well, they will get a call from a volunteer letting them know they are approved for adoption. They will be provided copies of the vaccination and sterilization records. A delivery day will be arranged for the dog. Either the adopter may come and pick up the dog, or a volunteer can arrange to have the dog delivered. They sign our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. We do periodically contact our adopters to check up on the dog to make sure everyone is happy and healthy and enjoying their new life!
