In the shelter’s words

Rye and her three siblings were found near a grain terminal, which is how she got her name. She came to us with goopy eyes, a tiny body, and a very big fear of humans — everything in her world had been overwhelming. She’s still a cautious kitten, but she’s starting to discover that people aren’t so scary. When you pet her gently, she’ll close her eyes like she’s thinking, “Okay… this isn’t so bad.” She’s not a lean‑in, snuggle‑up kitten yet — she’s a quiet observer who’s slowly learning to trust.Rye will thrive in a patient, calm home that understands shy cats and celebrates small steps forward. With time, consistency, and a whole lot of love, this sweet girl has every chance to blossom into a wonderful companion.Meet Our Fabulous Foster-to-Adopt Kittens! Our young kittens are ready to go home now through our foster‑to‑adopt program. You take them home today, and the adoption is finalized after their spay/neuter surgery. Our rescue requires kittens to be adopted in pairs or into a home that already has a young, friendly cat. Kittens raised alone often struggle with social and behavioral development, while growing up with another cat helps them learn boundaries, burn energy, and become well‑adjusted adults. The adoption fee is $75 for a single cat/kitten and $125 for a pair.If you’re ready to bring home a pair of playful kittens—or add one to your friendly resident cat—we’d love to help you find the right match.Apply today at www.midwestpetrefuge.com/adopt to start your foster‑to‑adopt journey! If you are interested in adopting this pet, please go to www.midwestpetrefuge.com/adopt to complete an application. Completing a questionnaire on any other website does not submit an application to our rescue, you must complete one on our website. If you have any questions, please email us at adopt@MidwestPetRefuge.com
