In the shelter’s words
Hi! My name is Mia III! I am a 6 year old fawn girl that had a short stay in the shelter as an owner surrender due to a "new baby" in my old family. A volunteer saved me and now I am in a foster home and doing great! I am an "all energy" type of girl! My foster home expected a senior but I came packed with energy and alot of love to give! I love to be close to people or pets, go for car rides, snuggle, take part in any human activity (cooking, watching tv, playing computer, crafting, etc), have learned home routines well, and am enjoying being everyone's shadow! I enjoy being outside to sunbathe and most importantly, run! I love toys and the louder the better! I love water! Whether it's my entire face in the bowl or the hose outside, I will soak myself until I can't anymore! I am house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. While I love everyone, a home with older children who can maintain their balance due to me being a trip hazard would be best. I have very limited exposure with the senior cat in the home. I am extremely curious, but also hesitant with it. There are two resident dogs and I love playing and living among them. I play hard, can outlast even the youngest one, cuddle with them, and cannot picture myself without another dog in my forever home! It's not necessarily a recommendation but a requirement that I have a dog companion to play and relax with! I greet everyone with my whole body which I am actively working on polishing that manner and keeping all paws on the floor! If you think I would make a great addition to your family and you are consistent, patient and gentle in guiding me to be the best girl I can be, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you! If you're interested in fostering a dog, please fill out the Foster Application https://austinboxerrescue.com/ways-to-help/foster/ If you're interested in adopting, please fill out the Adoption Application http://austinboxerrescue.com/adoption-application/Our volunteers will work with you to find the best dog for your home.

Plan a visit with the source organization
The Process to adopt a dog through Austin Boxer Rescue is as follows: Fill out an Online Adoption Application below. Your application will be reviewed and sent to a volunteer in your area. The volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit within one week. Normally, a volunteer would come to your house for a home visit, but until further notice, visits are being done virtually. After your home visit is complete and you are approved you can begin meeting dogs. The Adoption Coordinator will assist you in this process. Please note: The application process begins immediately once an application is submitted and approvals tend to occur quickly. Please do not submit an application unless you are ready to take home a dog. ABR does not have the space or capability to hold dogs, therefore, dogs are adopted out on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are not able to proceed with a home visit when contacted by an ABR volunteer then your application will be filed away. We will ask you to resubmit your application if you wish to adopt later date. Every dog adopted will have the following: Current on vaccinations and dewormed Spayed or neutered Will be micro chipped Will be treated for heartworms and/or on heartworm prevention Any additional medical problems will be treated and paid for by the rescue.
