In the shelter’s words
Named after the Greek goddess of the hunt and protector of animals, Artemis isn't hunting anything except yummy treats, gentle cuddles, and someone to love her forever! This beautiful 2-year-old, 39-pound Rottweiler mix can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give her some patience, a kind voice, and perhaps a tasty treat, and you'll discover an affectionate little sweetheart who just wants to be loved.Don't let her quiet nature fool you...this little goddess has brains! Artemis knows sit, shake, and can even balance on her back legs! She's food-motivated, takes treats with the gentlest mouth, and seems eager to learn. She's easy to leash, lovely to walk, and enjoys spending time in the yard. She hasn't shown reactivity to other dogs during volunteer interactions, and when she spotted a kitty, she politely kept her distance. What a little lady! Artemis has already made wonderful progress since arriving at the shelter. She is slowly gaining confidence, making new friends, and learning that people can be pretty wonderful. Make an appointment at yoloshelter.org/dogs, or email adopt@yoloshelter.org to perhaps be her most wonderful person!

Adopters fill out a 2-page questionnaire, interview with a staff person, and pay the adoption fee. We are in the process of transitioning to "open adoptions" with few formalized requirements. The full adoption fees are approximately $160 for dogs and $110 for cats, but we have regular 'specials'.
