In the shelter’s words
Meet Ellia! She is a 1 year old, 42 lb sweet and reserved hound mix girl who is looking for her forever family. She has the most gorgeous white and tan speckled coloring, and looks hound-like… but a quieter version! She currently lives with her sister, Luria, who she was found wandering as strays with, along with their mom and several other siblings. They do not need to be adopted together. That being said - they LOVE to play together! Ellia is a little nervous of humans still. She is gentle and timid. Once she gets out of her crate and out into her fenced backyard, though, she is a whole new dog! She loves running in the yard and playing. She would be best with a friendly and confident dog friend who can show her that life is nothing to be scared of! With a little patience and a lot of love, Ellia will become your very best little friend! Her fosters absolutely love her and say she’s the sweetest little gal. Adopt Ellia today!

Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
