In the shelter’s words

Sometimes the saddest beginnings make way for the most beautiful stories. Cooper's story is still being written, and we're determined to make sure it has the happy ending he deserves. Meet Cooper (AL), a 3-month-old (as of Octogber 2026) male puppy, possibly a Golden Retriever mix, whose young life has already seen more hardship than any puppy should ever know. When Cooper arrived at a shelter, he was severely emaciated and covered in a skin infection. Neglected and struggling, he desperately needed help, kindness, and a chance. Thankfully, that chance has come. Cooper is now safe with one of our trusted veterinary partners, where he is receiving the medical care, treatment, and nourishment he needs. His road to recovery won't happen overnight, but every good meal, every treatment, and every loving touch is helping this sweet boy heal. Day by day, Cooper will slowly gain the weight he should have, regain his strength, and discover what it means to be cherished. Despite everything he's endured, Cooper remains exactly what puppies should be: sweet, loving, and absolutely adorable. He greets people with a gentle heart and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He has every reason to be fearful of the world, yet he continues to trust, love, and hope. Cooper deserves a family that will see beyond his past and celebrate the bright future ahead of him. A family that will cheer on every milestone, spoil him with love, and show him that the rest of his life will be filled with comfort, security, and happiness. This brave little boy has survived neglect. Now he's ready for a life full of love. Every puppy deserves a chance. Cooper got his. Now he's waiting for the family who will make it count. Apply online to adopt Cooper (AL) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. Cooper's adoption fee is $700.Please be sure to reference this pet's name as Cooper (AL) in case of duplicate names within the rescue.
