In the shelter’s words
Zezi is a sweet girl....she is shy but very curious and affectionate when comfortable, and she loves to be brushed! She is very food motivated and enjoys batting toys around the house, and she adores adult cats once she gets to know them. She does not enjoy being picked up, and she is quite skittish (easily startled and quick to run), so she will need some patience as she adjusts to a new home, but your patience will be rewarded with her sweet affection! She's lived briefly with a very chill dog and did great with it. Because of her shyness, she's probably not a great fit for a home with young children. She was diagnosed in May 2026 with luxating patellas (kneecaps that dislocate easily), with the recommendation that her exercise and climbing should be limited. She is also a bit chunky and needs a continued restricted diet to bring down her weight, which will also help her knees. You can see more of her story on Facebook and Instagram at the hashtag #debifosterszezi Zezi's adoption fee is $75. Many cats do so much better in pairs, which is why we offer a reduced adoption fee of $25 for the second cat (or more!).

We have an extensive application process where veterinary references are checked (we require all current and past animals have been altered and that the client shows a history of good vet care) and we has a number of questions targeted at encouraging the adopting family to really consider if they are ready financially and emotionally to support an animal life long. We also try to match the right animal with the right home with consideration to the adopters previous animal experience, energy level, and general personality. After reviewing and approving and applicant (on paper), we meet with them and all members of their house hold including other resident dogs. We offer one week trials to ensure this decision is in the best interest of both human and animal. If all parties are confident upon meeting, then we have a contract which also states that if any anytime they are unable to keep the animal, that they will return in to our organization. Adoption fees vary from $100-275 based on age, size, and breed, with $175 as an average.
