In the shelter’s words
Mercat (7-9 years old) Mercat’s gray tabby face with green eyes reveals a sedate and calm lady who has been around long enough to know just what she wants: one or two kind people to call her own, a relaxed home with no kids, cats, or dogs, and special sleeping places up on a couch, shelf, or cat tree. She enjoys being petted and brushed, and she will sit beside you, letting you know that she enjoys your nearness. She is slightly hard of hearing and often doesn’t wake up right away when you walk into the room. When she does waken, it’s with a ready hello from her slightly raspy, loud voice, and a quick request for your attention. In her own cute way, she can be downright insistent upon love. And as much as she needs love and approval from her special people, she needs her alone time (aka “beauty sleep”). Please don't overlook this older tabby cat. Other cats may steal the limelight, but Mercat is a steady, calm gal looking for a warm place to land in this world. In an adult-only home that offers the perfect balance between peaceful social time and her necessary “me time,” Mercat will thrive. Mercat is on lifetime medication for a thyroid condition. Mercat would be a good cat for seniors. OK with Dogs : No OK with Cats : No OK with Kids : No

http://catscradleshelter.org/CCS/how-to-adopt/ An interview with the executive director is done prior to adoption. Not everyone is approved to adopt. Those that are approved have the cat for a 3 week trial period, where they can return cat and get a refund. Beyond that, we always want our cats back if the adoptive household can no longer care for it, but after 3 weeks, the adoption fee is not refunded. An adoption contract is completed prior to final adoption. Adoption fees are $118 including tax.
