In the shelter’s words

Meet Aura Left at a Police Station as a Tiny Puppy—Now Ready to Find the Loving Family She Deserves ❤️ Breed: Australian Kelpie / Carolina Dog Mix Gender: Female | DOB: 2/24/2026 | Weight/Expected Size: 26 lbs • Expected Medium-Large Good With: Dogs ✔️ | Cats: Unknown | Kids ✔️ Medical: ❓ Spay Status Unknown | ✔️ Current for Age Vaccinations | ✔️ Microchipped Location: Los Angeles, California Transportation: Ozzie and Friends Rescue provides safe transportation to approved adopters throughout the United States. ❤️ Personality, Breed Information & Aura's Story Aura's journey began with uncertainty, but also with hope. She and her littermates were left outside a local police station when they were just young puppies. Thankfully, they were found quickly and brought to safety before they had to face life on their own. Although someone chose not to keep them, Aura now has the opportunity to find the loving forever family every puppy deserves. Today, Aura is a happy, beautiful, and playful puppy whose tail is almost always wagging. She has a cheerful personality and enjoys making friends with everyone she meets. She loves spending time with people, playing with other dogs, and exploring the world around her with curiosity and excitement. One of Aura's favorite things is water. Whether she's splashing in a kiddie pool, enjoying bath time, or playing with the hose on a warm day, she happily embraces every opportunity to get wet. Her playful spirit and affectionate nature make her a wonderful companion for an active family looking for a puppy to grow up alongside. As an Australian Kelpie / Carolina Dog Mix, Aura is expected to grow into an intelligent, loyal, and athletic companion. Australian Kelpies are known for their eagerness to learn, trainability, and devotion, while Carolina Dogs are admired for their adaptability, awareness, and strong family bonds. Together, these breeds create a dog that thrives with regular exercise, positive training, and plenty of time spent with the people she loves. Aura would thrive in a home that offers: Daily walks and outdoor adventures Plenty of playtime and interactive activities Positive reinforcement training Puzzle toys and mental enrichment Continued socialization with people and other dogs A consistent daily routine A lifetime of love, patience, and commitment Aura has already been given a second chance. Now she's looking for the family who will help her grow into the amazing dog she's meant to be. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Like all puppies, Aura is still learning about the world around her. Her new family should expect normal puppy behaviors such as chewing, teething, learning house manners, and discovering new experiences every day. Aura is intelligent, eager to learn, and enjoys being with people, making this the perfect age to begin building good habits through positive reinforcement training. Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to learn your household routine 3 Months to fully settle into family life Aura will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training House-training and consistent routines Daily exercise and supervised play Continued socialization with people and other dogs Mental stimulation through enrichment toys and games Plenty of patience, encouragement, and affection With love, guidance, and consistency, Aura will grow into a confident, loyal, and devoted family companion. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Bringing home a puppy is a lifelong commitment that includes proper veterinary care, training, exercise, and companionship. As part of responsible pet ownership, Aura will need: Completion of her puppy vaccination schedule and routine wellness examinations Spaying if it has not already been completed, following your veterinarian's recommendation Monthly flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention A nutritious diet that supports healthy growth and development Daily physical exercise and mental enrichment Continued obedience training and socialization A safe, loving indoor home where she is treated as a cherished member of the family Because Aura is still growing, strenuous repetitive exercise and excessive jumping should be limited until her joints have fully developed. We also recommend scheduling a wellness visit with your veterinarian shortly after adoption to establish care and ensure she continues to thrive.
